Taslim Martin’s creative output ranges from figurative sculpture to furniture design and public art commissions. Craft skills are important in his work and he is happy to learn new processes, or forge links with industry to achieve the required results. He likes the idea that the way we experience form can be meaningful even if we do not fully understand why. Alongside experimenting with materials and process Taslim is interested in the sculptural potential of functional objects and investigating the notion of cultural identity and the artist

Taslim Martin received a bursary from 'the shape of things' to produce 'Disparate Nature' at Touchestones, Rochdale July-October 2010

‘Artists often work in isolation; through 'the shape of things' I have had the good fortune to work collaboratively with creative professionals and the other artists. This has allowed me to view my own practice in context.’ Taslim Martin
